I recently (2018) took the leap to become a full-time career artist when, after many years producing photo-realist work, I had an epiphany that my future as a professional artist lay in Impressionism, cityscapes in particular. I began to teach art to classes where I found the need to create work with much more freedom than I had previously been used to. I would take the sketches and beginnings of works back to my studio and finish them in the same style as they were started. It was a revelation. I realised that the feel of the work translated to my favourite subject matter, the hustle and bustle of towns and cities, much better than when constrained by photo realist detail. I continue to travel extensively and gather my inspiration from my many jaunts around the world.
