I’m a new, self-taught artist. I was first inspired by my father’s belief in my ability to draw, which I had not shared, but I ‘gave it a go’.
My first love became watercolours but I now, also, work in acrylics and collage.
I love to try different mediums as opportunities arise.
I started off painting wildlife. I try to capture the ‘character’ of an animal, which I believe shines through their eyes, but have also become inspired by Japanese art, in its simplicity, which led to my, additionally, working in gilding and ink.
I have undertaken dog portraits and paintings of homes and other buildings, but mainly, I like to be led by inspiration from what I see around me and in photographs or from pure imagination.
