Mary Gilson
My name is Mary Gilson. I started to paint after I took early retirement from teaching. I was a founder member of Allington Artists with whom I exhibited in the local area. I have recently become a member of Phoenix Artists, a small group of three experienced people who share their skills and expertise. I enjoy working in a variety of media, including watercolour(mainly pen and wash) in which I do countryside scenes, buildings and animals, also detailed pen drawings, mainly animals and local views. I also do various craft related activities, having trained in calligraphy I like to produce thought provoking work using pen, gouache and watercolour. I also do marbling on paper and enjoy producing unique art works and sheets of attractive paper for use in my craft work making stationery items and decorated wooden items and cards.
