jeannieJeannie Byrne
My name is Jeannie Byrne originally from Co Wicklow, Ireland.  I joined a women’s co-operative in Wicklow whereby I learnt the craft of spinning and weaving which was led by a friend who learnt from the Navajo Indians when she lived in California.  We exported mainly to the Irish, German, and American Market.  I exhibited wall hangings, jackets and scarves at the Royal Dublin Society designer’s guild.

I moved to London in 1983 and studied Art and Design at Brixton College for two years.  My first piece of sculpture was given to my tutor as he liked it so much.  I was offered a place at Camberwell School of Art.  Unfortunately, due to financial circumstances I did not proceed, which is my biggest regret of my life.  I moved to Salisbury in 2016 and two years ago I joined the Salisbury Group of Artists and have exhibited at The Library and at Arundells whereby I sold my first painting.

I am influenced by Lautrec,  Paul Henry, Ferdinand Hodler and Katsushika Hokusai.  I have travelled widely and like to paint scenes from my travels.  In February 2024  I went to India with The Pigment Trail  and completed two sketchbook which hopefully, will be exhibited.
