Helen Kirby - Painting, Textiles & Media

webpageHelen is a contemporary Artist who specialises in abstract painting, textiles and media. Much of Helen’s works explores the phenomena of synaesthesia, seeing sound, as colour, line, and form. Her paintings are created from own experiences of sound and place, and journeys in the landscape, working with mixed media acrylic and oils, to create her ‘Sound Paintings.’

 

Helen also enjoys working with hand-crafted textiles and weaving, seeking out natural objects and yarns sourced or ‘found’ in the natural world. Helen has an ongoing interest in ancient stone monuments and ritualistic sites and spends much of her time finding inspiration from her visits to prehistoric ancient monuments and wild landscapes around her homeland Wiltshire and Dorset, and on visits to Western Isles of Scotland.
